XX. Web Portal and Site Management for an NGO.
This project requires development of web portal for Autism. The portal should also link two websites: one site for a Day Care Center and the other for the CEDAM (Centre d’Évaluation et de Diagnostic pour l’Autisme à Maurice).

10. Greenhouse Control Using Fuzzy Logic
In this project, various parameters for greenhouse (temperature, humidity, etc...) will have to be monitored and the proper actuators (windows, A/C, tap) be called into action using a closed loop, feed-forward or feed-backwards mechanisms.

11. Solar Panel Battery Charger
Remarks: None No of students: Individual Project Contact person: Rishi Heerasing
This project will involve designing a solar panel that can be used to charge a portable device, say, a smartphone. Different technologies for the solar panel will have to be investigated.

13. IVRS-based Anonymous Student Feedback System
With the incidence of car thefts being on the rise in Mauritius, one viable deterrent is a “Remote Car Alarm & Immobilizer System”. Traditional car immobilizer system prevents the engine from starting up unless the appropriate code is entered. This usually results in various car accessories being stolen instead and thieves usually going unscathed. This novel idea will allow the thieves to drive away with the vehicle unknowingly but allow the car to become conspicuous (e.g. engine immobilization with horn siren) at a latter stage when triggered through a cell-phone. This might allow easy identification or capture of thieves as well as recovery of the stolen car. This project consists of designing such a system and will involve a good understanding of cellular communications as well as automotive electronics.

Anonymous Student Feedback has always been attracted a low number of participants leading to biased reviews. In an attempt to remedy the solution, an open-source and freeware IVRS (Interactive Voice Response Software) such as Pronexus VBVoice 7.01 could be used instead by UTM students. The aim of the project is to authenticate the students based on their voice and allow them to complete the ASFF survey and store the results in a SQL database for subsequent analysis. The project should make use of wired phones but can also be extended to cell-phone as well.
